Safe & Sound Executive Coordinator Katie Kaahanui Highlighted on HI Now

Katie Kaahanui, MSCJS ‘22, is the executive coordinator at Safe and Sound Waikiki. She works with community organizations and partners to create a coordinated approach to making Waikiki a safe place for locals, businesses and visitors. The focus of the program is to restrict repeat criminal offenders from the area and provide support services and resources for the houseless and those with mental health issues. Chaminade University’s Criminology and Criminal Justice department is the longest-running program of its kind in Hawaii. The Master of Science in Criminal Justice Studies (MSCJS) takes a holistic and broad-based approach and continues to change and adapt to the needs of our communities—with a strong emphasis on preparing ethical, compassionate and solution-oriented drivers of change.
